Robert L. Ackerman Elementary is a K-5 elementary school located in Millard, a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska. Ackerman opened for classes in the fall of 1982. Our current enrollment is approximately 520 students.
Our school is named after Dr. Robert L. Ackerman. Dr. Ackerman was a member of the Millard Public Schools Board of Education for 11 years, serving as the president for two terms. With a life-long commitment to education, Dr. Ackerman held many jobs, including teacher and principal in the Westside Community Schools. For over 20 years, Dr. Ackerman was a Professor at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he became chairman of the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education.
